Yucca elephantipes (Yucca Palm / Spineless Yucca)
Commonly known as Yucca Palm or Spineless Yucca, is an evergreen, drought-tolerant plant valued for its upright canes and sword-like foliage. Commonly used as an accent plant, container specimen, or architectural feature, it provides strong vertical interest and a clean, modern look in residential and commercial landscapes.
Water Requirements: Low. Highly drought tolerant once established; water regularly during the first growing season, then sparingly as needed. Avoid overwatering.
Soil: Well-draining soil. Performs best in sandy or gritty soils; highly tolerant of poor soils and dry conditions.
Growth Rate: Moderate.
Bloom Time: Spring to summer; may produce clusters of bell-shaped flowers on mature plants.
Temperature: Hardy in USDA Zones 9–11. Excellent heat tolerance; sensitive to prolonged freezing temperatures and may be damaged below 25°F (–4°C).
Pruning: Minimal. Remove lower leaves as they age; can be cut back to control height and encourage branching.
Toxicity: Toxic to pets if ingested; may cause mild gastrointestinal irritation.
