Sisalana ‘Mediopicta’
Is a striking variegated form of the sisal agave, known for its upright, sword-like leaves featuring bold central stripes. Its dramatic coloration and architectural shape make it a standout specimen in desert, modern, and coastal landscapes. This cultivar maintains the toughness of the species with added ornamental appeal.
Water Requirements: Low. Very drought tolerant; water occasionally during extended dry periods.
Soil: Well-draining soil—sandy, rocky, or gritty. Avoid waterlogged conditions.
Growth Rate: Moderate.
Bloom Time: Monocarpic. Blooms once after many years, producing a tall flower stalk before the rosette declines. May produce offsets.
Temperature: Excellent heat tolerance. Cold hardy to about 20–25°F (–6 to –4°C). Protect from hard or prolonged frost.
Pruning: Minimal. Remove dead or damaged leaves carefully; leaf tips and edges are sharp.
Toxicity: Sap can cause skin irritation; leaves have sharp marginal teeth.
