Portulaca oleracea ‘Pazzaz Nano’ (Purslane)
Is a compact, heat-loving annual valued for its vibrant blooms and succulent foliage. Commonly used in borders, rock gardens, containers, and groundcover plantings, it provides continuous color in hot, dry conditions and is ideal for low-maintenance, drought-tolerant landscapes.
Water Requirements: Low. Highly drought tolerant once established; water regularly during the first growing season, then sparingly as needed. Avoid overwatering.
Soil: Well-draining soil. Performs best in sandy or gritty soils; highly tolerant of poor soils but does not tolerate standing water.
Growth Rate: Fast.
Bloom Time: Spring through fall; produces abundant, rose-like flowers that open in sunlight.
Temperature: Hardy in USDA Zones 9–11 as a perennial but commonly grown as a warm-season annual. Excellent heat and drought tolerance; sensitive to frost.
Pruning: Minimal. Light trimming can encourage fuller growth and continued flowering.
Toxicity: Not considered toxic to people or pets.
