Commonly known as Feijoa or Pineapple Guava, is an evergreen shrub or small tree valued for its silvery foliage, edible fruit, and attractive flowers. Commonly used as a hedge, screen, specimen plant, or edible landscape feature, it provides year-round structure and performs well in residential and commercial landscapes.
Water Requirements: Low to moderate. Drought tolerant once established; water regularly during the first growing season and during extended dry periods for best fruit production.
Soil: Well-draining soil. Performs best in sandy or loamy soils; adaptable to slightly alkaline conditions and tolerant of poor soils.
Growth Rate: Moderate.
Bloom Time: Spring to early summer; produces showy flowers followed by edible fruit.
Temperature: Hardy in USDA Zones 8–10. Excellent heat tolerance; cold hardy once established and can tolerate brief freezes.
Pruning: Minimal to moderate. Prune lightly to shape or maintain size; responds well to hedge pruning.
Toxicity: Not considered toxic to people or pets; fruit and flower petals are edible.
