Tagetes species, commonly known as Marigolds, are colorful annuals valued for their bright, long-lasting blooms and easy-care nature. Commonly used in seasonal beds, borders, containers, and mass plantings, they provide continuous color throughout the growing season while attracting pollinators and helping deter certain garden pests.

Water Requirements: Low to moderate. Drought tolerant once established; water regularly during the first growing season, then as needed. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings.

Soil: Well-draining soil. Performs best in moderately fertile soils but adapts well to sandy or average garden soils.

Bloom Time: Spring through fall; produces abundant, long-lasting flowers.

Temperature: Hardy in USDA Zones 2–11 as a warm-season annual. Excellent heat tolerance; sensitive to frost.

Pruning: Minimal. Deadheading spent blooms encourages continuous flowering and maintains a tidy appearance.

Toxicity: Not considered toxic to people or pets; sap may cause mild skin irritation in sensitive individuals.
