Trachelospermum asiaticum ‘Minima’
Commonly known as Jasmine Minima or Dwarf Asian Jasmine, is a dense, trailing evergreen groundcover valued for its durability, low maintenance needs, and ability to form a thick, weed-suppressing mat. Highly adaptable and tolerant of heat, shade, and varied soil conditions, it is widely used in commercial landscapes, medians, slopes, and anywhere a reliable groundcover is needed.
Water Requirements: Low to moderate. Requires regular watering during establishment; once rooted in, it becomes highly drought tolerant.
Soil: Well-draining soil. Tolerates sandy, loamy, and clay soils. Performs well in both acidic and alkaline conditions.
Growth Rate: Moderate to fast.
Bloom Time: Spring to early summer, though flowering is sparse in the ‘Minima’ form.
Temperature: Hardy in zones 7–10. Excellent heat tolerance; can withstand brief cold but may experience dieback below 10–15°F (–12 to –9°C).
Pruning: Minimal. Trim as needed to control spread or to refresh growth. Can be mowed on a high mower setting to rejuvenate foliage annually.
Toxicity: Generally considered non-toxic to humans and pets.
