Gazania rigens (Gazania / Treasure Flower)
Is a low-growing, drought-tolerant perennial valued for its large, daisy-like flowers and silvery-green foliage. Commonly used in borders, groundcover plantings, rock gardens, and containers, it provides bright seasonal color and performs especially well in hot, sunny landscapes.
Water Requirements: Low to moderate. Drought tolerant once established; water regularly during the first growing season, then as needed. Avoid overwatering.
Soil: Well-draining soil. Performs best in sandy or rocky soils; highly tolerant of poor soils but does not tolerate standing water.
Growth Rate: Moderate.
Bloom Time: Spring through fall; produces large daisy-like flowers that open in sunlight.
Temperature: Hardy in USDA Zones 8–11. Excellent heat and drought tolerance; may be damaged by hard frost.
