European Fan Palm

Chamaerops humilis

Is a compact, clumping palm known for its fan-shaped leaves and excellent hardiness. Commonly used in Mediterranean, desert, and coastal landscapes. 

Water Requirements: Low to moderate. Drought tolerant once established.

Soil: Well-draining soil; tolerates sandy or rocky conditions.

Growth Rate: Slow to moderate.

Bloom Time: Spring (small yellow flowers).

Temperature: Very cold hardy for a palm; tolerates down to ~10°F (–12°C) or lower with protection.

Pruning: Remove old or damaged fronds as needed; minimal pruning required.

Toxicity: Not known to be toxic.
