Dipladenia ‘Flordenia’
Is a compact, bush-type tropical flowering plant valued for its abundant, large trumpet-shaped blooms and tidy, mounded habit. Unlike vining mandevilla types, it maintains a controlled growth form, making it ideal for containers, borders, and mass plantings. Its vibrant color and long bloom season make it a strong performer in warm-climate landscapes.
Water Requirements: Moderate. Prefers consistently moist but well-drained soil; water regularly during the first growing season and during extended dry periods. Avoid overwatering.
Soil: Well-draining soil. Performs best in fertile, slightly acidic soil; adapts to sandy soils with proper irrigation.
Growth Rate: Moderate to fast during warm weather.
Bloom Time: Spring through fall; produces abundant, trumpet-shaped flowers.
Temperature: Hardy in USDA Zones 9–11. Excellent heat tolerance; sensitive to frost and may be damaged below 32°F (0°C).
Pruning: Minimal. Light trimming encourages fuller growth and continued blooming; can be cut back if plants become leggy.
Toxicity: Mildly toxic if ingested; sap may cause skin irritation in sensitive individuals.
