Cordyline Red Star

Cordyline australis ‘Red Star’

Is a striking, upright evergreen plant valued for its bold, burgundy-red foliage and architectural form. Commonly used as a focal point, accent plant, or container specimen, it adds strong vertical interest and a modern, tropical look to residential and commercial landscapes. 

Water Requirements: Low to moderate. Drought tolerant once established; water regularly during the first growing season, then as needed.

Soil: Well-draining soil. Performs best in sandy or loamy soils; tolerates a range of soil types if drainage is adequate.

Growth Rate: Moderate.

Bloom Time: Summer; produces small, fragrant flowers on tall spikes in mature plants.

Temperature: Hardy in USDA Zones 8–11. Excellent heat tolerance; moderately cold tolerant but may be damaged below 20°F (–6°C).

Pruning: Minimal. Remove damaged or lower leaves as needed; little shaping required.

Toxicity: Toxic to pets if ingested.
