Evolvulus glomeratus (Blue Daze)
Commonly known as Blue Daze, is a low-growing, spreading perennial valued for its vibrant blue flowers and silvery-green foliage. Frequently used as a groundcover, border plant, or container spiller, it provides continuous warm-season color and performs exceptionally well in hot, sunny landscapes.
Water Requirements: Low to moderate. Drought tolerant once established; water regularly during the first growing season, then as needed.
Soil: Well-draining soil. Performs best in sandy or loamy soils; tolerates poor soils but does not tolerate standing water.
Growth Rate: Moderate to fast.
Bloom Time:
Spring through fall; produces bright blue, funnel-shaped flowers that open during the day.
Temperature: Hardy in USDA Zones 8–11. Excellent heat tolerance; sensitive to frost and may decline in freezing temperatures.
Pruning: Minimal. Light trimming encourages fuller growth and continuous flowering.
Toxicity: Not considered toxic to people or pets.
