Tagetes patula ‘Little Duck’ (Little Duck Marigold)

Is a compact annual valued for its bright, cheerful blooms and dense growth habit. Commonly used in borders, mass plantings, seasonal beds, and containers, it provides reliable warm-season color and is known for its ability to attract pollinators while helping deter certain garden pests.  


Water Requirements: Low to moderate. Drought tolerant once established; water regularly during the first growing season, then as needed.

Soil: Well-draining soil. Performs best in moderately fertile soils but adapts well to sandy or average garden soils.

Growth Rate: Fast.

Bloom Time: Spring through fall; produces abundant, long-lasting flowers.

Temperature: Hardy in USDA Zones 2–11 as a warm-season annual. Excellent heat tolerance; sensitive to frost.

Pruning: Minimal. Deadheading spent blooms encourages continuous flowering and maintains a tidy appearance.
